Huntsville Utilities sues 3M, other companies over contamination of drinking water HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Utilities has filed a lawsuit against 3M and several other companies, accusing them of contaminating drinking water with “forever chemicals.” ...The lawsuit claims that the companies knowingly manufactured, used, or discharged PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” and distributed them throughout the Tennessee River, polluting HU’s raw water sources. ...The filing cites research linking PFAS exposure to cancers, immune system impacts, high blood pressure, and others. Alabama coal miners begin their 20th month on strike

They have continued demanding their employer, Warrior Met Coal, restore the pay and benefits that were cut in 2016 as a cost-saving measure to keep the mines from shutting down. Out of the 900 miners who started the strike a year and a half ago, 500 remain, according to United Mine Workers of America.

The video has lots of people asking lots of questions. “We just want answers of where are they coming from,” said Athens resident Amanda Schulte. “How are they getting here? Who’s setting them up? And when is it going to stop?” WAFF 48 checked with the company at the center of all these questions, Pilgrim’s Pride. Officials said the buses are carrying workers from Athens and Albertville to their plant in Russellville. “Recently, a new refugee program has incentivized immigrants to move to our communities,” Kitchens’ statement said.
